On April 9, 2010 Dr. Edward T. Humbert, MS, Orthopedic Surgeon was presented with the Outstanding Alumnus Award by the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at University of Florida, Gainesville, FL. The Outstanding Alumnus Award is the highest honor the department bestows upon an alumnus/a, and is in recognition of a particular achievement of noteworthy value, a series of such achievements, or a career of noteworthy accomplishments. Dr. Humbert of Joint Implant Surgeons of Florida, is located in Fort Myers and was recognized for his unique use of Mechanical Engineering skills/accomplishments and dedication to a career in orthopedic surgery. He specializes in joint replacement of the hip and knee.
Dr. Humbert developed an interest in orthopedics while obtaining his degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Florida and a Masters in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Akron. After medical school, then orthopedic surgical residency at Ohio University, he completed the prestigious fellowship in hip and knee joint reconstruction under Drs. Thomas Mallory and Adolph Lombardi of Columbus, Ohio.
Dr. Humbert has successfully implanted over 6,000 joint replacements and performs more than 900 annually. He is Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery and a member of the American Academy of Hip and Knee Surgeons.
