ABOUT US

OUR MISSION

At Joint Implant Surgeons of Florida, it is our mission to provide safe, effective surgical and non-surgical care to restore each individual’s independence and quality of life. Our team of accomplished surgeons are all fellowship-trained in their subspecialty. This means they have completed additional training beyond the traditional, basic orthopedic residency preparation. Our surgeons became “experts” in the body parts they treat – to your advantage.

An early adopter of the anterior hip procedure, Joint Implant Surgeons is now one of the most successful and highly experienced practices in the nation to perform this surgery. Also, we are one of the largest practices in the country for total joint replacements.

About Additional Specialties in Comprehensive Orthopedics

OUR HISTORY

In 2003, Dr. Edward Humbert joined forces with the late Dr. John Fenning to form Joint Implant Surgeons of Florida. Dr. Humbert completed his undergraduate studies in mechanical engineering at the University of Florida. He later earned a master’s degree in biomedical engineering at the University of Akron. Dr. Humbert completed medical school at Nova Southeastern University, followed by orthopedic residency training at Ohio University.

In fact, it was Dr. Humbert’s fellowship training that sparked the practice name, Joint Implant Surgeons of Florida. At the time, he studied total joint replacement and reconstruction at “Joint Implant Surgeons” in Columbus, Ohio.

Today, he continues to perform safe, quality joint replacements, as well as providing the most progressive conservative measures to preserve the natural joint prior to surgery. Nationally, he instructs surgeons on state-of-the-art techniques in total hip and knee replacement. So far, Dr. Humbert has successfully implanted more than 8,000 hip and knee replacements and performs more than 900 joint replacements a year.

A GROWING PRACTICE

In 2009, upper-extremity and hand specialist Dr. Dennis Sagini became a partner in the practice. Originally from Kenya, Dr. Sagini received a bachelor’s degree in microbiology from the University of Oklahoma. He then obtained his doctorate in medicine from Temple University in Philadelphia and completed his residency at Howard University. Dr. Sagini served his fellowship training in hand and upper-extremity surgery at The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

A few years later, Joint Implant Surgeons of Florida completed a highly anticipated facility move to College Parkway. The professional team relocated from a cramped space behind Lee Memorial Hospital in Fort Myers to a newly constructed, enhanced facility at 7331 College Parkway.

This office expansion allowed Joint Implant Surgeons of Florida to add multiple specialty surgeons. This expanded the practice’s capacity to provide services to patients. Additional services include new MRI imaging, digital x-ray and ultrasound. Even the physical therapy department expanded. Today, Joint Implant Surgeons of Florida operates two conveniently located offices in Fort Myers and Naples.
